Cambodia ~ lessons in life love and happiness

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth ~ Martin H. Fischer

The title to this post is also the working title of a little book I would like to create of my images and thoughts from our recent trip to Cambodia.

We are back safe and sound from our two week adventure. Tired (even though it is silly to complain when you are lucky enough to travel, good grief I hate airplanes) and so taking it easy with loads of washing, resting and cuddles with the furkid today. Slowly looking at the over 2000 images I took and the 1000 images Mr took!!!

I have noticed that, as per usual, I was taking heaps of images over the first few days and then lost the crazy need to capture every single second by digital image and eventually just relax let myself enjoy the moments, be part of the moments, rather than simply viewing them through the lens...

As the working title suggests the trip was an experience, more than an adventure, it was a lesson. Well many lessons, hopefully ones we can take into the rest of our lives in a positive way.

Life is a game, Play it; Life is a challenge, Meet it; Life is an opportunity, Capture it. ~ Anonymous

The above image of Mr (taken after over 24 hours of little sleep and our first little taste of the streets of Siem Reap) is such a symbol to me of our trip ~  Our eyes are wide open now.

I will post a few more little series on this trip.  Sooo many images and thoughts to share, hope all is well will pop onto my feed and see what I have missed xox

Can I just have one more moon dance with you, my love.

I cannot believe it has almost been three years since this moment. Don't even get me started on where the first half of this year has gone...

We married on a winter evening in front of a small gathering of our nearest and dearest and a warm log fire, almost three years ago.

Here are some moments, from that moment. The memories, sigh xox

A Sorta Fairytale

One of the many magical places, visually, that we visited in France was Mont-Saint-Michel. It takes your breath away.  Literally.

As you approach it during the day, this fairytale like building rises out of a dry dusty field.  Or the building is completely surrounded by water, depending on when you visit, seriously pay attention to the high tide times and where you park your car!  And at night, well, as you can see...

We fought the tourists and the tacky tourist stands during the day, as you do. But we came back around midnight and it was, well, a sorta fairytale (and a little bit spooky!) wandering around this amazing old walled city at night.

As you can tell from the  following 'postcards',  my Memory Lane Curated project continues xox

Cinque Terre Italy

One of the "to do's" on the personal to do list we made on NYE, was to finally get the photos and memories of  our trip through Europe back in 2008 documented and printed. This 'little' task involves me sorting through literally tens of thousands of digital images (some of which I have not even looked at since they were taken in 2008) working a little photo shop magic on them,  getting them into lay outs including a little blurb about the special moment/s that relate to the place...

Yeah.  It is a pretty huge task given all the places we visited. When looked at as a whole, it was just too overwhelming.  And.  So.  Well, the years have passed and nothing has happened in any significant sense with most of the images.  Sadly the details are fading.

I am determined to have a genuine attempt at it is this year.  Though this year is already 3 months gone and I have only just started.

I have a fresh approach. I am breaking this task up in to small sections, mini tasks if you like. I am going to select certain places and focus on this smaller task and then once happy with that, will move on to the next place.

I was going to start with Paris. Of course.  Of all the images we took, these are the ones  I have visited more often than not over the years, however, I have decided to start in Italy.  The Cinque Terre to be precise.

It was one of the places on our 'must visit' list. We were not disappointed. Such a gorgeous little section of Italian coast line.  From the unique and colourful villages (each with it's own personality) to the tiered vineyards perched precariously on the steep coast line.  It was one very beautiful place.

Here are some of the 'postcards' I have developed for the album I am determined to curate for us this year xox
